MACRA Changes Affecting Med Sup Plans C and F Jan 1st 2020

Anyone eligible for Medicare benefits due to age, disability or end-stage renal disease PRIOR to 1/1/2020 – Still have access to plans C and F.  Basically, nothing changes

Anyone eligible for Medicare benefits due to age, disability or end-stage renal disease AFTER 1/1/2020 – Will not have access to plans C and F.

The MACRA provision does not change the underwriting guidelines in the state of Missouri. The guidelines will remain the same on or after January 1, 2020.The guidelines states individuals who terminate a medicare supplement policy within 30 days of the annual policy anniversary date may obtain the same plan with no health questions asked for a period of 63 days after the termination of their existing policy, for any issuer that offers the plan. That said, an indiviual can move from one carrier’s plan F to another plan F with no health questions asked.

Policyholders currently on plans C, F or HDF can keep there policy in force after 1/1/2020.  Individuals would be subject to carrier guidelines to change plans or carrier based in the future.

Plans D and G will be guaranteed issue plans for medicare beneficiaries newly eligible.
